Abstract/Description

We are the first Laboratory for Research and Innovation in Education for Latin America and the Caribbean. We were created in 2016 by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), with the support of the Ministries of Education of Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay. Since 2018, the Ministries of Guatemala, Honduras and Panama have also joined. We are a regional non-profit organization.
SUMMA works throughout the region and has a permanent presence in Chile (headquarters), Argentina, Honduras and Canada. Its board of directors is made up of leading experts, former ministers of education and academics from 10 countries. Our professional team comes from 8 nationalities, is multidisciplinary (economists, sociologists, pedagogues, political scientists, lawyers, engineers, communicators, among others), highly qualified (80% has a master's degree and approximately a third has a doctor's degree) and experienced (comes from governments, academia, NGOs and international organizations), which allows promoting avant-garde initiatives with a diverse and multicultural perspective. We currently work with actors and institutions from more than 20 countries in the region, with strategic partners from four continents (Europe, America, Asia and Oceania).
